Carew cruised into top spot in the table as they had Darren Thomas and James Owen in fine fettle as they crushed Whitland, who were shoot out for 63 before Carew responded to win in only 15.1 overs.

With Haverfordwest forced into inactivity because of Kilgettys demise, Carew won a vital toss and skipper Darren Thomas followed up this success with another good spell of opening bowling as he grabbed 6 for 38 alongside Owens 4 for 23 against his former club, aided by two useful catches from talented young keeper Aled Griffiths.

Thomas struck early by bowling Dave Lee with only 11 on the board and pouched two catches off his own bowling to get rid of top scorer Paul Davies (three fours in his 20) and Daniel Griffiths - and only home captain Paul Webb of the other Whitland batsmen was able to reach double figures as Whitland slumped from 33 for 1 to 63 all out in 22.3 overs.

To be fair to Whitland, they never gave up trying and Huw Devonald claimed the wickets of openers Ian Sefton (12) and Nick Scourfield (10) at 12 and 39 respectively.

But Simon Wood contributed an unbeaten 25, which contained three boundaries, and although Steve Cole was adjudged lbw to Matthew Davies for only six there was only going to one winner - and that was high-riding Carew.
