Something for everyone - from food to football

With three days to go to the start of the St Davids National Eisteddfod 2002, the activity and excitement is mounting. Its the biggest travelling festival in Europe.

While the main competitions in singing, reciting and dancing will be held in the main pavilion, the Eisteddfod field will be buzzing with a host of varied activities ranging from food to football.

The food festival with stalls selling Welsh and international cuisine is sure to tickle your taste buds, while the more active can take part in sporting activities in the company of Wales top players and coaches.

The Eisteddfod is the biggest national festival for drama as well as arts and literature and music lovers are well catered for - be they fans of classical music, West End hits, popular musicals, Welsh rock and pop or male voice choirs.

The Eisteddfod art and crafts pavilion is the largest mobile exhibition in Britain.

About 500 artists send in more than 2,400 slides showing their work. It takes four months for the selectors to pick out the best and almost 100 artists make it to the final exhibition.

This years special exhibition will be examining the concept of place and landscape in Pembrokeshire.
