Lottery silence explained

SUPPORTERS of the Pembrokeshire Lottery may be wondering what has happened recently, as nothing has been heard for a while - with regard to winners and loans - from Investing In Pembrokeshire Society Ltd, which runs the scheme.

Said a lottery spokesperson this week: The Pembrokeshire Lottery has, in fact, been a victim of its own success.

Running for the past nine years under a licence from Pembrokeshire County Council, it has proved so popular that - under the relevant legislation - Investing in Pembrokeshire Society Ltd now has to obtain a licence from the Gaming Board of Great Britain.

While this application is being determined, the Pembrokeshire Lottery must not be promoted, hence the silence from Lottery HQ in Pembroke Dock. Loans are still being made, however, and winners notified in the normal way. Regular updates of the application to the Gaming Board will be found on the Lotterys web page - www.pembslottery.co.uk.
