Pupils across the county celebrated another set of impressive exam results last week.
GCSE results in Pembrokeshire were slightly better than last year in the grade A* - C range, with nearly 60% of the countys students achieving five or more results in that grade bracket.
But at Netherwood in Saundersfoot, 88% of pupils gained at least five GCSEs in the A* - C range with Georgina Berridge, Yuliya Monashok and Naomi Davidson all achieving 11.5 GCSEs.
Principal, Mr Huw Morris, said: We are on cloud nine. The pupils of Ysgol y Preseli, in Crymych, also excelled themselves with over 70% of them gaining at least five results in the A* - C range. Three pupils - Fiwan Tomos, Gwawr Ifan, and Hafwen Williams - all achieved ten A* and one A grade. Nia Bell, Kate Allen, Jonathan Tomos, Sian ODoherty, Sara Davies, Rhys Volk, Sally Snow and Lisa Davies also achieved a host of A* and A grades.
Mrs Pamela Munday, headteacher of Milford School, said: We have broken the 50% A* - C pass rate which we have been striving towards for years and, just as importantly, 93% of pupils will leave with a good qualification. We are delighted.
High achievers at Milford included Rhian Davies, Richard Stephens, Alannah Simmons, Thomas Morrell, Laura Krelle, Elizabeth Norman and Paul Price.
At Pembroke School, headteacher Mr Frank Ciccotti congratulated students and teachers on the results. The high grade results surpassed the governing bodys target range, and there were many outstanding individual results in all ability ranges. Overall, 98% of students who took the exams passed at grades A* - G.
Mr Chris Noble, headteacher of Greenhill School, Tenby, said he was very, very pleased with a 58% pass rate at grades A* - C and a 96% pass rate at grades A - G.
Roxanne Giggens and Alexander Mills, students of Tasker Milward, both gained 11 A* grades. Overall, 55% of Tasker Milward students gained at least five GCSEs in the A* - C range. Headteacher, Mr Chris Jones, said: We are delighted with the results, which are probably our second best ever.
At Sir Thomas Picton School, headteacher Dr George Davies said: There were some superb individual results with a lot of students exceeding expectations. We are very pleased.
Ms Christine Wright, headteacher of Fishguard High School congratulated her pupils and staff on a steady but sure improvement on last year. Overall, 60% of students passed five or more exams at grades A* - C with some superb individual results. Timothy Williams, Patti Beaumont, Sarah Harries, Lydia Salmon, Elizabeth Jones, Edwin Burnett, Steven Evans, Ellie Panter-Whitlock, Amy Thomas, Margaret Webb-Elder, Oliver Watson, and Lorenzo Giacci all achieved a host of A* and A grades.
At Ysgol Dyffryn Taf in Whitland, 67% of students gained at least five GCSEs at grades A* - C. Exceptional individual performances included Katie James, Stephanie Merriman, Alexander Paine, and Kristopher Stone.
In Cardigan, 67% of Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi pupils passed five or more GCSEs at grades A* - C.
Pembrokeshire County Councils Cabinet member for Children and Young People has congratulated local pupils on their GCSE success. Councillor John Davies said: Education is - and always has been - one of the county councils top priorities. The continuous improvement in results over recent years is evidence that this is paying dividends.
