Foundation awaits hospice go-ahead

Staff at Pembrokeshire's Paul Sartori Foundation will learn on Friday whether their plans for a hospice in Scleddau have the go-ahead.

The nursing inspection by the Care Standards Inspectorate is the final hurdle to be cleared before the project can begin.

Senior nurse, Cris Paterson said: "We've gone into partnership with Langton Hall Residential Home and have leased two beds from them to start with. We are running this as a pilot scheme for a year with a view to increasing the number of beds."

A total of 12 nursing staff will provide 24-hour-a-day cover for patients. Ms Paterson said she hoped the hospice would be operational before the end of the month.
