Hi-tech roadshow hits town

The Welsh Development Agency in Partnership with PBI is organising a number of IT workshops in Tenby, from December 10th to 12th.

The events, to be held on the WDA's state-of-the art IT roadshow trailer, are designed to assist small businesses learn about and adopt information technology into their business practices. Using plain language and practical examples, the workshops are suitable for those with little knowledge through to the more experienced IT user.

The workshops will focus on the benefits of ICT needs and solutions for local businesses with a particular emphasis for those involved in the tourism sector. Businesses will be able to participate in practical workshops to explore online banking schemes, hotel management systems, and learn all the tips behind building successful websites.

A separate session will outline the techniques that businesses can adopt to ensure increase the future competitiveness of their business through the exploration of e-marketing techniques, database creation, and customer relationship management, techniques that are used by successful businesses to keep ensuring past visitors become repeat customers.

Information about the latest broadband technology will form the basis of the workshops on Wednesday, December 11th, with a discussion about its benefits, accessibility and the available subsidies. The WDA Trailer has satellite broadband so there will also be an excellent 'hands on' opportunity for people to try out the technology for themselves.

On December 12th, members of the community are encouraged to join in a fun digital photography Christmas card workshop where they are invited to combine their creative talents with modern technology to develop a personal Christmas card, guided through the process by a guest designer on hand to provide practical tips and advice.
