Murder charge trial date

THE TRIAL of a mother charged with murdering her two-year-old son on a Pembrokeshire beach could start on January 27th.

A judge at Swansea Crown Court on Friday heard submissions from prosecution and defence lawyers about Mirlene Stewart's trial date.

It had been scheduled for February, but the date may be brought forward, depending on whether it can be fitted in with other cases.

The judge, Mr Justice Roderick Evans, said a final pre-trial hearing should place on January 6th.

Mirlene Stewart, aged 33, from Birmingham, did not attend the proceedings. She has already entered a not guilty plea to a charge of murdering Jordan Reid on Coppet Hall beach, near Saundersfoot, on August 23rd.
