Crymych 29 S'sea Uplands 5
Crymych earned their seventh win in nine league outings as they disposed of the challenge of a Swansea Uplands' side which played better than their league position suggests.
The Preseli Men grabbed two tries to open up a 12-point interval lead and ran in another three tries after the break as they played good 15-man rugby that will have pleased coaches Glyndwr Richards and Robin Davies.
Second row Cennydd Davies opened the Crymych account from a rolling maul after the spade-work had been done by Dylan Morris, Robert and Gareth Davies - and classy centre Matthew Hill added the second from a pre-planned move at a set piece that was initiated by half backs Gareth Bryan and Eurig Davies, with winger Sion Thomas converting from in front of the posts.
Uplands tried to counter by using their heavy pack but there was no shortage of effort from Dylan Phillips, Andrew Morris, Carwyn Evans and skipper Paul Jenkins in the close exchanges, and it was the livewire Morris who claimed the third Crymych try as he scooted up the blind-side touchline to the corner. Scrum half Bryan added the extras with a beautifully judged conversion.
Matthew Williams came on for Sion Thomas and scored a cracking try and although Uplands scored a consolation try by centre Peter Beck it was Crymych who appropriately had the final word when fly half Eurig Davies sliced through for an unconverted try after Wyn Jenkins and Peter Pritchard had been involved in the early stages.
Crymych: Barry Davies: Peter Pritchard; Wyn Jenkins; Matthew Hill; Sion Thomas (Matthew Williams): Eurig Davies; Gareth Bryan: Robert Davies; Gareth Davies (Huw Phillips); Dylan Morris: Cennydd James (Wyn Harries); Dylan Phillips: Carwyn Evans; Andrew Morris; Paul Jenkins.
