Photographer keen to snap only the lonely

Genuine hard-working professional female WLTM outgoing men with few inhibitions for fun and possible fame. GSOH essential.

The female is award-winning photography student Michele Wright, from Whitland, and she is hoping to meet men, and women, who have placed lonely hearts ads. But only so she can take their pictures.

Michele is in the last year of a photography degree at Trinity College, Carmarthen, and wants to use the opportunity of her final project to put faces to those 20-words-or-less descriptions we all find so intriguing in every magazine and newspaper, including this one.

Michele, who won both the Durst Tetenal and Ty Nant photography awards in 2001 and was shortlisted in the Channel 4 Independent competition, said: "I am fascinated by people and fascinated by the way we see ourselves and others.

"I think a lot of people read lonely hearts columns with a great deal of interest. We like to use them as a comparison for ourselves. They are very like reality TV in a way."

Michele says her major interest is the way in which images and text can combine to create a fuller picture of the individual - her previous projects include photographing people who wear T--shirts with slogans. "It was interesting to see how the message compared to the face," she said.

The idea behind her latest project is to photograph those brave but lonely souls who have tried the single's column, in their natural environment, either at work or at home, and show them in their true light.

Anyone willing to take part in the project can contact Michele on 01554 748222 or 01994 240218.
