NFU potato conference dedicated to early crop

The Pembrokeshire NFU Early Potato Conference - signalling the start of the season - will be held at Williamston Farm, Houghton, Milford Haven on Friday at 7pm, by permission of Mr David Dixon.

The conference is the oldest of its type, and the only one dedicated to the early crop. It draws together growers, merchants and allied industries. Everyone interested in the local early potato trade is welcome.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the presentation of prizes for the crops competition, which has drawn a record entry from all over the county. Also attending will be the chairman of the NFU's potato committee of England and Wales, Graham Nicholls.

Complimentary light refreshments, which will include a specially prepared Pembrokeshire Potato Salad, will be available.

The conference is being supported by the Welsh Development Agency, which is instrumental in the delivery of the new Agri-Food Partnership horticulture action plan. Delegates will be able to find out more about the new action plan which will guide the future of the industry in Wales.
