Geoff strikes Chelsea gold

PLANTS provided by Geoff Nicolle, from Nolton Haven, formed part of the National Auricula and Primula Society's display at the recent Chelsea Flower Show.

The society, which recreated a Historic Auricula Theatre, won a prestigious gold award - a remarkable achievement for a first-ever Chelsea presentation by the society.

Auriculas in the theatre display included 'Rosemarket Rackler', the plant that first sparked Geoff's interest in the auricula when he moved to Pembrokeshire 40 years ago.

Another plant that impressed many show visitors was 'Sonia Nicolle' an award-winning auricula raised by Geoff and named after his wife. Geoff has held the National Collection of Garden and Border Auriculas for many years.

Plants he has raised have appeared in Chelsea in previous years in other displays, including those of Blooms of Bressingham and Kew Gardens.
