Have a whale of a time during Fish Week

Kids are in for a whale of a time at the launch of Pembrokeshire Fish Week in June.

One of the star events on the opening day at Milford Marina on June 28th is a visit by the Whale Workshop.

This roadshow with a difference displays life-size, life-like inflatable sea creatures such as killer whales and dolphins.

Visitors can collect leaflets and ask questions. There is also an area for children to draw their favourite marine creature, or make a wildlife mobile. It also has a serious side, by focusing attention on issues affecting marine creatures, such as pollution.

The roadshow is one of a host of family activities taking place at the marina from 10.30am onwards on the first day of Fish Week. Others include skills group, Circus Malarky, pond dipping competitions and magic shows, as well as games organised by the local Round Table. Providing thrills and spills on the Milford Haven waterway will be Chinese-style Dragon Boat racing.

The week-long festival of activities around the county includes other events aimed at the young including 'have a go' fishing sessions, angling competitions and craft workshops such as 'Funky Fish' in Tenby, a 'Snorkel Safari' at Stackpole Quay, and 'Seashore Sculpturing' on Goodwick beach.

Pembrokeshire Fish Week, now in its fourth year, celebrates seafood, fish and fishing throughout the county.

It runs from Saturday, June 28th, to Sunday, July 6th.
