International aircraft to fill manorbier sky

The Royal Artillery Weapons Range at Manobier is hosting a self-defence testing exercise over the next few days.

The exercise is nicknamed Welsh Rider and involves a number of different types of foreign and British aircraft, from helicopters to fast-jets to transport aircraft.

The full list includes a Norwegian P3 Orion Maritime Patrol aircraft, a Belgian Army Agousta helicopter and a Dutch F16, as well as a British Apache helicopter.

Both the area and the range offer excellent facilities for testing the aircraft and although there will be no live firing, they will be releasing defensive flares and chaff, which is a device to confuse radar.

Spectators can expect to see the aircraft on weekdays during daylight hours until June 13th.
