Dear Editor, - In your report, Sea Stretch Declared Unfit For Bathers (June 25th), the Marine Conservation Society had declared that bathing waters off Goodwick sands are unsafe while Goodwick Harbour south is safe and Roy Lewis had demanded answers from Pembrokeshire County Council.
It was therefore rather convenient, rather too convenient for the MCS to lay the blame on agriculture, where farming activities in this area are limited to grassland production. Your reporter quite correctly stated that the Environment Agency has done a lot of work over the past years to ensure that farming activities are carried out in the accordance with the code of good agricultural practice for the protection of water.
There are many sources of pollution, surely scientific evidence should be produced by the MSC before such serious accusations are made demonising farmers.
