Highlighting Llangwm's famous Scarecrow Festival is this one manning the petrol pumps. Among the many weird and wonderful creatures who have popped up in the mid Pembrokeshire village is Prime Minister Tony Blair.
As well as the parade of Scarecrows, local residents and holidaymakers can enjoy a wonderful programme of events in the village.
Strange folk will be popping up all over Llangwm during the village's festival fortnight. Around 150 scarecrows make an appearance every year and are to be found all over the village. Prizes up for grabs at this year's award ceremony will be for traditional, topical, mechanical, humorous, best schools entry and of course Hollywood. The awards will be made at the village carnival on July 12th.
But this is only part of the activities during the fortnight. An art and craft exhibition will run until July 9th. There will be an exhibition researched by the local history society at the Methodist Chapel on the Green.
On Friday, the annual fun run starts from Llangwm School at 6.30pm. That night a folk night starring local talent will be held in Llangwm Rugby Club. Saturday is gardens open day with a variety of gardens to be seen in and around the village.
Sunday is the longboat regatta, hosted by the Llangwm Longboat Club. All of this culminates in the carnival on Saturday, July 12th. The parade starts 1.30pm from Glan Hafan. Circus Malarkey will be present to entertain and give a workshop. This will then be followed by an evening event at the Cottage Inn where there will be a pig roast.
