CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE
I have a bone to pick with a few of you. All those of you who helped to make the first Charlie's Angels movie such a success should be ashamed of yourselves. I understand the novelty appeal of it. It's a much-loved old TV series that's had a hip revamp for the big screen. It's got three great looking girls in a whole range of alluring outfits.
I understand the appeal of that, but, I didn't need a sequel. Yes, that's right, thanks to a large number of cinema-goers making the first outing a little too successful, the girls are back with another extremely silly movie. Charlies Angels: Full Throttle, once again sees Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu team up as Dylan Sanders, Natalie Cook and Alex Munday, to fight crime in their own bizarre but inimitable way. I'm not going to go into massive detail about the plot because, let's face it, the makers of the film weren't that interested in the plot either.
There are, of course, a series of murders, which are linked to the recent theft of a witness protection profile database and the Angels' suspicion soon falls on a fallen angel. This is the most interesting aspect of the film, but only because the fallen Angel, Madison Lee, is played by Demi Moore.
Is that reason enough to see the film, though? Well, maybe.
All I can say about Charlies Angels: Full Throttle is that it's awful. But hang on. Is it fair to judge this film as a normal film? Okay, compared to say Gladiator, or The Usual Suspects this is incredibly bad. But Charlies Angels: Full Throttle, is really just a collection of pop videos strung together.
That these little mini movies do just about link together is really neither here nor there. Don't get me wrong, I hate it.
But I must determine to hate it because what it is doesn't interest me, not because of the quality of what it is. I don't like this and I do like The Usual Suspects.
It's just a matter of taste and expectation. I assume that far too many of you will just love Charlies Angels: Full Throttle. So this probably won't be the last we see of them.
