Chandler's batting masterclass

Cresselly (148 for 2) beat Narberth (142 all out) Umpires: Trefor Evans and Hilliard Davies Scorers: Dave Richards and Idwal Vincent

Adam Chandler demonstrated what an acquisition he has been for Cresselly as the former Carew all-rounder claimed 2 for 18 in a short spell of bowling which helped reduce visiting Narberth to 142 all out - and then he blasted 55 not out to help his new side win by eight wickets as team-mate Julian Arthur described Chandler's knock as 'superb' - a big compliment from someone who can also hit the ball very hard indeed!

That Narberth reached a seemingly respectable score owed much to brisk innings by Ceri Jones and Greg Morris, batting respectively at No 9 and No 10. Jones whacked three sixes and two fours in his 27 and Morris had two sixes and a four in an unbeaten 26 as Lyn Richards grabbed 4 for 23 and Richard Harris 3 for 42 as Phil Williams starred in the field with three excellent catches, all taken at point, and keeper Neilson Cole also pouched another brace.

Of the early Narberth batting, opener Rob Simons scored 18 and Wayne Howells 13 as the rest struggled.

Julian Arthur and Richard Harris then gave Cresselly a good base with a stand of 37 before Arthur was caught at backward point for 18 by Wayne Howells off Greg Morris, while fellow spinner Nick Evans also claimed the scalp of Harris as Mike Scale took the catch at mid-off as the Cresselly captain reached 34, including four boundaries and a six. But then Chandler took over the reins, striking seven fours and three sixes on his way to 55 not out including two successive sixes to round off the match in style alongside Damian Arthur, who was undefeated on 18.
