Those nice boys from Sickofantic are back with bite, at the Queens Hall on Friday.
Their gigs are always different and interesting, so what are they going to spring on us this time? Nine bands in the round (yes nine) on four stages (two acoustic and two rock) and the gig is called Later with Sickofantic, which gives you some idea of the format of the show.
This is truly going to be a massive feat of organization and logistics but if anyone can do it the Sickofantic guys can. Seeing the line-up it also promises to be great fun.
On the bill are (and to be fair I'll run through this alphabetically): - A new band from Bristol, The Avenue, as yet unseen this side of the Severn; Milford Haven poprockers Clarity; image-conscious f.n.u.k, a funk outfit from the north; the spiritual sounds of Jo Barlow's African influenced Mapepemusic; Noisecandy from Newport, who return to Narberth to provide perfectly honed classic pop; perennial pleasers Preseli Pete and the Bluestone Boys; rip roaring rollicking rock favourites Rockit Science (the guys the girls prefer); a talented local young band Sceptic John (word has it they've been busy writing some new material for this gig); and as special guest, ex-Gorky's founder member John Lawrence. Phew! This is a massive musical mix, showcasing some of the best acts around.
Now that school's out give yourselves a treat and get along to The Queens Hall, on Friday. Expect noise, lights and plenty of action as the party promises to last for three and a half hours.
What a sizzling start to the summer.
