Cousins reunited thanks to Western Telegraph

Dear Editor, - I am writing to thank you very much indeed for publishing my letter under the appropriate heading, Back To My Roots, July 2nd.

The day after the Western Telegraph came out, I had a telephone call from Desmond Owen, a previously unknown cousin, who had read my letter the evening before. We discovered that both our grandfathers were brothers living with their family in Spittal.

I had had a long standing arrangement to meet another cousin at Spittal on the Saturday morning who happened to already know Desmond. While with my cousin, he contacted Desmond who came to meet me! So three days after the publication of my letter I had met my 'new' cousin! This was a great success on your part and hence my sincere gratitude to you.
