Name: Paul Windsor Davies, aged 34. Resident of: Tresi Aur, Prengwyn, Llandysul. Family/children: Engaged. Employment: joined Lloyds Bank in 1987, currently business manager in Lampeter branch.

Political background: twice acted as election agent; twice stood as Conservative parliamentary candidate; Llandysul town councillor. If elected, what will you try to do about the following local issues: Attracting new jobs to the constituency?

We need to limit increases in business rates to inflation in order to promote jobs in Pembrokeshire. Home-grown Pembrokeshire businesses need to be given priority in the allocation of Regional Selective Assistance from the National Assembly. The local economy?

We need to establish one business agency to deal with the distribution of Objective One funding. Educational establishments must provide training and skills to match the needs of local businesses. The local health service?

Health expenditure needs to be targeted on recruiting extra doctors and nurses. Patients should be offered guaranteed waiting times for surgery. Road and rail links?

Improvements must be made to the A40. We need greater integration of the various transport systems in Pembrokeshire. The Bluestone project and tourism? The Bluestone project will hopefully provide long-term high quality employment. It is important to maximise the tourist industry for the benefit of the whole county. Farming?

Pembrokeshire farmers need a level playing field to compete with their heavily-subsidised overseas counterparts. There must be honest labelling of all foreign meat imports. The Assembly needs to provide more support for the promotion and sale of local food produce. Education and schools?

It is essential to ring-fence school budgets. We must support rural schools, especially where the school is the focus of community life. War with Iraq and its aftermath? I believe that the United Nations should now be responsible for establishing democracy in Iraq. What sums up your constituency's challenge?

I believe that by having successful, primarily small, local businesses it can stimulate economic prosperity and provide much needed local employment. If elected as the AM I will fight hard for Pembrokeshire.
