DEAR EDITOR, - Pedestrianisation stress is bad for the health.
I left my home in the walled town of Tenby early in order to be back, with my car, before the 11am curfew. On my return I read my post, which included a letter that necessitated my going to Pembroke Dock later in the working day.
It was 10.30 and I was immediately busy with other tasks, so I had no time to take my car outside the walls, park it and return home. I telephoned the Pembrokeshire County Council helpline to ask if I might follow the park and ride service up wet, deserted Crackwell Street later in the morning.
The girl at the helpline amazed me by explaining 'No, it's not an emergency. It's not like someone dying in the street ...'
The people of the walled town have been saddled with an unimaginative, third-rate pedestrianisation scheme. We are further insulted by having our fates decided by operatives at the so-called helpline. The sooner there is a public inquiry the better.
MARION HUTTON Lexden House, St Julian Street, Tenby.
