Steve steers Town to win

Llangwm (107 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (213 for 9)

A sparkling 62 by No 7 batsman Steve Phillips helped Haverfordwest to victory at Pill Parks as Llangwm collapsed to spin twins Clive Tucker and Matthew Johns, ably assisted by young pace bowler Simon Williams.

Phillips arrived at the crease with The Town score looking a little shaky his eight boundaries and three sixes made sure his side sped past the 200 mark before Tucker made the early inroads with is off-spin which gave him figures of 4 for 11 in 10.3 overs, seven of them maidens.

Llangwm pace men Darren Brick and Matthew Hughes had started well as Hughes shifted Jonathan Twigg and Dai Davies, with Brick causing Andrew Phillips to hit his wicket from a lifter which rapped the batsman on the head.

Chris Inward removed the in-form Karl Rhead so that all the first four Haverfordwest batsman had got themselves in and then out.

Phil Sutton and Phil Kirkby set about repairing the damage with some nice shots before they went for 32 and 25 respectively - and it was left to Matthew Johns and Huw Scriven in helping Steve Phillips advance the score beyond what had seemed likely at one stage.

Llangwm were soon in trouble against the Tucker/Williams duo and they slumped to 49 for 7 as Alister Platten was run out by an Andrew Phillips' throw and only George Thomas just managed double figures. Then Inward and Brick showed their higher order how to do it in a stand of 57 before Matthew Johns continued his fine form with the ball, having Brick (26) superbly caught in the deep by Dai Davies and then tempting Inward (22) to give a catch to Williams at point, albeit with the help of a fumble.

Phillips lofted a ball to Twigg at mid-wicket so that The Town were able to celebrate an easy win - and maximum bonus points too.
