Let's twister again...

Dear Editor, - I was with my family and a group of friends at the lower end (vistors' centre side) of Llysyfran Dam on the afternoon of Sunday, August 24th, when we were caught in a torrential downpour.

As we walked along the side of the reservoir towards the vistors' centre and the car park we saw a tornado forming above the water. By the time we returned to the rest of our party just beyond the playground the rain had stopped and the cloud formation had changed.

None of us had ever seen a tornado in real life before but we were very impressed by the sight!

* Pembrokeshire may not be Tornado Alley but it certainly saw more than one of these natural phenomena on Sunday, August 24th. An incipient tornado or whirlwind was spotted descending out of a huge black thundercloud between Milford Haven and Tiers Cross.
