Decision time for legal aid bid in school closure drama

Parents of children at Hermon Primary School, who are desperately fighting its closure, will hear today whether they have been granted legal aid in their landmark case against the county council.

The eagerly waited decision will come just before four o'clock this afternoon (Wednesday), and will mark the first time the council has been taken to the high court over the threat of closure.

Whatever the outcome, parents and supporters will go ahead with legal action following a public meeting last Thursday.

The unanimous vote gives lawyers the go ahead to begin legal proceedings on September 11th.

Supporters, who hope to get the case underway by September 17th, are busy organising fundraising events to cover the legal costs. There is a sponsored march on September 20th and a pig roast and auction on September 26th.
