Prendergast Villa 0 Pennar Robins 4
Having survived relegation last season, Prendergast Villa know what it's like to fight their way up the table and after this defeat at the hands of high-flying Pennar Robins, they're going to have to do it all over again.
Three defeats from three outings and this, possibly the most comprehensive of the lot. Villa manager Dean Flood was desperately disappointed with the result, especially after his side had given a good account of themselves at the start:
The first goal was the ice breaker. Up until then we had done well, but it's very disappointing, we conceded some very soft goals."
The first half would have pleased Flood no end. They held the Robins level at the break and used the wind well. They ran at the visiting defence, forced a few corners and had a number of shots at goal.
They weren't totally dominant however, as the Robins' exciting strike partnership of Wayne Brunton and Gideon Hochim had some good runs and half chances but to no avail.
Just after the interval and the Robins slipped into top gear. Brunton got the ball rolling with a good finish which went through home 'keeper, Gary Thomas' legs, while their second goal was slightly more fortuitous, when Steve James had a shot deflected into the back of the net.
Goal number three came from the boot of Brunton once again, while the fourth came from substitute Marcus Lyons, who converted a penalty after brunton was felled in the box by Tom Goring.
With a few players having transferred from the club during the summer, the Robins are having a start to remember and manager Chris Lloyd is a delighted man at the helm:
"We're playing well at the moment. We battled for everything, did well against the wind in the first half and really turned the screw after the break."
