It's festival time again

Tenby is getting ready to welcome a feast of international artists and local favourites, who will be entertaining in the town during its 12th Arts Festival, which gets underway on Saturday.

The festival's colourful grand parade opening through the town to the harbour, heralds a diverse range of events and performances.

From the energetic rhythms of oriental drummers to the prize-winning chamber sounds of Bath Camerata, festival-goers of all tastes will be spoilt for choice with over two dozen different events on offer.

Other musical highlights include performances by the world-famous South Korean pianist, Young-Choon Park and an evening of song and harp with Aled Jones and Elinor Bennett, while entertainment from closer to home comes from Greenhill School's orchestras, the Dyfed Choir, organist Timothy Noon, Tenby Male Choir, St Mary's Church Choir and the Tenby Players.

The week also features poetry from Jim MacCool, Kenneth Steven and Brother David from Caldey Island. The festival is complemented by live music in various venues through Tenby, plus an art trail in and around the town.

q Tenby Arts Festival week will also see a preview of the Pevsner guide to Pembrokeshire - the local volume of The Buildings of Wales. The three authors, Thomas Lloyd, Julian Orbach and Robert Scourfield, will be talking about their research in this long-awaited guide to the county's rich architectural heritage.
