Parents must take lead to stamp out yob culture

DEAR EDITOR, - Yet again the government shows it has lost touch with reality (Western Telegraph, August 13th), as it offers cash prizes to stop the yob culture.

Such culture occurs in all occupations including the professions, at all financial levels, in all racial and religious groups and in all parts of the country.

It distresses those who watch as well as, ultimately, the participants, and places an enormous burden on the police, the courts, prisons, protection services. A wise man said nations would fall to pieces as the families in them disintegrate.

Although there is input from peers and the media, the basic cause lies with parents as does the cure.

The culture will close when all parents decide to teach their children correct principles, encourage good social skills and become excellent role models.
