AS expected in this top versus bottom league clash it turned out to be a handsome eight goal victory for title hopefuls Monkton Swifts over relegation favourites Solva.

Playing up the slope and against the wind the Swifts' had the lions share of possession and went in three goals up at half time.

Dean Driscoll opened the Swifts' goal scoring account in the 7th minute with a firm header.

Around the 28th minute Dean Busby placed his shot past Roger Phillips for the second. Just before the break the league's top marksman Matthew Price drilled his effort into the bottom corner.

Phillips pulled of a terrific save to deny Price from the penalty spot.

But minutes later there was no denying Price who finished with aplomb from close range. James Archer's long inviting ball fell kindly for Driscoll to chalk up goal number five.

Price grabbed his hat-trick in the 70th minute with another fine predatory strike. Replacement Lee Gilpin quickly made his mark when he fired in from six yards for the seventh.

With virtually the last attack of this very one-sided affair the visitors where awarded their second penalty.

This time Price made amends for his earlier spot-kick miss, by crashing his second penalty crashing into the back of Solva's net. Game over!

Solva's player/manager Peter Cole complimented the Swifts when he said: "They are definitely the best side we've faced this season."
