Dangerous road needs crossing

A Milford Haven women is campaigning for a pedestrian crossing on Hamilton Terrace. Seventy-nine-year-old Kay Taylor has thought for a long time that the busy road needed a safe crossing point, but a recent incident convinced her that she needed to take action.

"I was walking along Hamilton Terrace and I saw an elderly gentleman with two sticks and a lady with a pram and a toddler," she said. "They were having a dreadful time trying to get across the road. I decided then I would try and do something about it."

Kay feels that the volume of traffic - particularly industrial vehicles - passing through Milford Haven has steadily increased over the past few years, making the need for pedestrian crossings with traffic lights greater than ever before.

With the help of her husband David, Kay is hoping to put petitions to support the crossing in local businesses. She plans to pass the signatures on to the Trunk Road Agency and the National Assembly.

"The crossing isn't just for me, but I would find it a great help because I am partially sighted," Kay told the Western Telegraph. "I like walking, but I can't always see traffic coming."
