By-pass call after traffic mayhem

TRAFFIC chaos caused when a 37-metre long processing column, being delivered to Total refinery, failed to negotiate the right angle junction of Hamilton Terrace and North Road, Milford Haven, has prompted renewed calls for a town by-pass.

Police had to divert traffic via The Rath and Pill for some three hours while the 72-tonne load was nudged round by a massive crane.

Milford West councillor, John Cole, said the situation was likely to get worse with the development of the LNG plant at the former Esso refinery.
