All change for YFC fun day

It was out with the old and in with the new for members of Templeton Young Farmers' Club, when they dropped their annual horticultural and craft show in favour of a more relaxed family fun day.

It was one of the warmest days of the year so far, helping to create an excellent atmosphere.

The day began with the dog show, and judge Maureen Ward had a very difficult task as the dog entries came flooding into the ring. The pedigree classes were dominated by two dogs, S. Plank's Toffee and R. Dunbar's Bella, with the novelty classes also highly contested.

In Pets Corner was an array of furry and fluffy creatures for judges Mr and Mrs Feetham to examine. Emma Morgan and Flopsy took first in the rabbit section, with the guinea pig title going to Rebecca Harries and Cody.

This year Templeton Carnival was held on a Saturday for the first time, as requested, but entries were slightly down on last year. Carnival Queen Holly Woodard and her attendants Georgia Roderick and Anna DeVal arrived on the village green in great style courtesy of Narberth Fire Service.

Presenting the Queen with her tiara was Karen Jones (Pembrokeshire YFC county chairman) and Joan Belt.

The fun day was sponsored by local businesses.

Overall the day was a huge success with a large amount of money being raised for funds. Mrs Jayne Jones, of Barclays Bank, offered to match-fund the event, ensuring that the enthusiasm will run through for another year.
