Pembrokeshire 10K race in memory of Adam

THE Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club are currently busy organising a 10K half-marathon race, which will be held on September 12th at Dale.

All proceeds raised from this event will be given to the 'Bucketful of Hope' appeal in memory of one of their members, Adam Evans-Thomas.

Adam, despite suffering with leukaemia for ten years, was an active member of Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club before he sadly passed away at the early age of 35.

Adam's 'Bucketful of Hope' appeal aims to raise funds for Ward 10, Withybush Hospital and the new bone marrow unit at the Heath Hospital, Cardiff.

His family and friends are now continuing his work and this race is just one of a number of events being held to raise funds for the appeal, which culminates next year on July 16th with Adam's 'Festival of Hope' - a day of music, theatre and displays - which is to be staged at Carew Pavilion.

It is hoped on this day to recruit around 5,000 new blood and bone marrow donors. Entries for the 10K race have been limited to 150 and all participants will receive a free commemorative T-shirt.

The Pembrokeshire half marathon is part of the Inter-Club championships held to promote running events,and it will be a highly competitive event for serious runners. However, all abilities are welcomed for this splendid scenic route.

The first male and female runners of the half-marathon will receive the Adam Evans-Thomas memorial trophy, which will be competed for annually.

The race has received sponsorship from: Milford Haven Port Authority, a grant from the Community Chest in Wales, Harbourside Pharmacy, Woolworths and Enterprise Cycle Shop, Neyland.
