Kindly Mariners share points with lowly Bettws

Rugby Division Four (West) Bettws 8 Milford Haven 8 Milford Haven's hopes of putting a little distance between them and their bottom four rival clubs were hampered by a last-gasp try from flanker Nathan Davies which brought Bettws level.

The Mariners were grateful for the point because they would have had nothing to show for their efforts had home outside half Tristan Evans scored the vital touch line conversion.

The draw was no good to Bettws and leaves them still standing with a -2 points tally having previously had three points deducted when they had none to take away!

Ioan Dolling again caught the eye for Milford from his centre berth and half backs Bruce and Rob Evans were always trying to keep their pack going forward while trying to bring Dolling and Adam Craxford into midfield action.

Dean Aldred, Matthew Doncaster and especially Mark Wonnacott looked strong as a breakaway unit but this is a relatively inexperienced Mariners' side and they were level at the break when Evans landed a penalty for Bettws and veteran full back Nathan Young replied for Milford.

Wonnacott put Milford ahead after the break when he played at scrum half for ten minutes and powered over from close range.

But the Mariners couldn't quite hold on for the win and in the final analysis perhaps a draw was the fairest result on the day.

Milford Haven: Nathan Young: Matthew Marchant; Adam Craxford; Ioan Dolling; Craig Eva: Bruce Evans; Rob Evans: Jamie Picton; Mark Lewis (Jonathan Madden); Jack Kinnersley: Scott Evans; Carl Allen: Matthew Doncaster (Matthew Henderson); Dean Aldred (Chris Saunders); Mark Wonnacott.
