Auction to hammer home the tsunami appeal message

PEMBROKESHIRE'S biggest-ever auction and raffle is to be held to help the Tsunami Appeal.

Businesses and individuals throughout the county are being urged to contribute items and 'promises' to the project, which aims to raise a large sum as soon as possible to help the disaster fund.

"We're calling it the Pembrokeshire People's Tsunami Appeal, and we are just asking anybody and everybody to help," said co-ordinator Kevin Reeve, of Ludchurch.

Mr Reeve, of Whitland-based Sir Benfro Bakery, has arranged collection points and raffle ticket sales throughout Pembrokeshire, and will be meeting all the administration costs of the appeal.

"This is not for publicity for any business or individual - just a big effort for an enormously worthy cause from the people of a very generous county. It will be a huge task to get everything tied up in a very short time, but the money is obviously needed urgently," he said.

The plan is to make up a number of food and drink hampers to be raffled alongside an auction of 'promises', other goods, services and tickets. This will take place at the Fourcroft Hotel, Tenby, on Sunday, January 23rd, at 4pm.
