THE British public has raised well over £100 million for the tsunami appeal and in Pembrokeshire and other parts of west Wales, the response has been magnificent.
Individuals, organisations, schools, businesses churches and chapels have all been fundraising.
Here are just a tiny fraction of the collections and donations made:
To say that customers at The Old Inn at Camrose were fleeced on New Year's Eve would be sheer understatement. Some 15 highly respectable members of the community went home with their heads shaved, when everyone joined in to raise money in aid of the appeal.
"We had a whip round among the customers, which went so well that someone suggested a sponsored head-shave to raise even more," said licensee James Barrett.
"We ended up shaving 15 heads, with sponsorship of around £100 a head and in the end raised just short of £1,500. We are sending it to the tsunami appeal. The generosity was marvellous."
At Solva, a soup kitchen was organised by Penny Dafforn at the village hall on New Year's Eve. Ten different soups were on sale and there was a good turnout, including a number of young people who called in before going out for the New Year's Eve celebrations. Nearly £1,500 was raised.
Tenby fire crews have sent £3,000 to the disaster fund. They collected £2,500 from the public in Tenby and Saundersfoot on New Year's Day and made the figure up to £3,000 from their own pockets.
Customers and visitors to The Castle Hotel in Little Haven, have between them raised £1,000 and the amount is still growing.
The New Year's Eve party held at the Coronation Hall, Dale, and organised by Joy Griffiths and Jane and Karl Wonnacott raised £340.
On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, customers of the Castle Hotel, Haverfordwest, gave £500.
Pupils from Haverfordwest VC Junior School held a non-uniform day and raised £366.40. THE Pembroke Dock Christian Aid Committee has sent £350 to the appeal for immediate medical supplies and food in the disaster areas.
Future efforts to raise further money for the appeal will be organised at the agm at St Andrew's on January 14th at 7.30pm.
A house-to-house collection in Trefin for the Red Cross Disaster Emergency Fund raised £341.14.
