Bicentenary must be marked

Dear Editor, - 2005 is the bicentenary year of Nelson's great victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.

With many events already planned up and down the UK, what special events have Milford Town Council (or any other organisation) planned for the town?

Milford has many connections with Nelson and his circle of friends, including of course, Lady Emma Hamilton, her husband, Sir William Hamilton (who was the owner of Milford) and Charles Francis Greville (who inherited Milford and a great deal of Pembrokeshire on Sir William's death in 1809).

I'm sure that any local Battle of Trafalgar celebrations could be the ideal time to put Milford Haven firmly and proudly on the tourist map.

The town of Milford, although being only just over 200 years old, has a very important and rich heritage.

This heritage should be put to more use and used to encourage people to visit the town.
