Dynamic pianist takes centre stage

Piano recital: Roger Owens, Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan, Saturday, January 22nd Roger Owens, one of the most formidable talents to emerge from Pembrokeshire in recent years, will be giving a recital for The Peter Gould Music Trust on the new Steinway piano at Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan, on Saturday, January 22nd.

The trust is delighted to welcome back Roger - a former piano pupil of the late Peter Gould - to their concert series.

Roger, who is continuing his spectacular career as a pianist, comes from Hook, and was educated at Tasker Milward School followed by four years at London's Royal College of Music.

His most recent high-profile performances have included Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, and the Grieg Piano Concerto at London's Barbican. His recent CD recording of Liszt's piano music received critical acclaim.

Roger is now based in Winchester, where he teaches at the prestigious Winchester College and is a member of the piano faculty at Peter Symonds' College.

lncluded in his programme are the Partita in C minor, the second of a unique set of six by Bach, and Beethoven's Eroica Variations.

The final work is the epic Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky.
