These boots were made for walking

WHATEVER your preference or ability when it comes to walking, you will find just what you are looking for in Pembrokeshire.

With the 186-mile coastal path, offering spectacular views of the county's stunning headlands and bays, and the vast network of inland routes - taking in the Preseli Hills, forests, rivers and valleys - Pembrokeshire really is the place to be if you like to travel on foot.

Leaflets detailing various routes are available from local tourist information centres, and a number of bus services for walkers are available to help you access the coast and countryside without needing a car. These services also give you the option of not having to take a circular route - just do your walk, then take the bus back to where you started. Simple.

The county is working hard to improve disabled access to footpaths and, in the year 2000, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority won the Wales BT Access for All award for its cliff-top wheelchair access point at Haroldston Chins, near Broad Haven.

On several other stretches of the coast and at numerous sites inland there are more disabled-friendly walks on offer. See the Pembrokeshire County Council website to find out more about easy access routes.

Pembrokeshire Greenways is an initiative to help encourage local residents and visitors, of all abilities, to access the countryside through walking, cycling, horseriding, bus and train travel.
