We back consultant

DEAR EDITOR, - We are disgusted that Dr Overton, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Withybush Hospital, has been suspended by Frank O'Sullivan, chief executive of the Pembrokeshire and Derwen National Health Trust for exercising his human rights and freedom of expression.

Dr Overton felt it was clinically correct to hand out leaflets informing us of the closure of the gynaecology ward and the possible deterioration of women's health services in Pembrokeshire. The knock-on effect to other services is also a great concern.

We fully support Dr Overton and insist that his suspension is lifted immediately.

Dear Editor, - I am writing with great concern after hearing that Chris Overton, consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician at Withybush Hospital, has been suspended from his job.

He should be commended for trying to conserve the gynaecology ward and its services to the women of Pembrokeshire.

Why should he be punished for fighting for his patients' rights? He is the voice of Joe Public and sets an exemplar example to everyone, who should fully support his efforts. He is an immense asset to Withybush Hospital and should be reinstated immediately. Reinstate him now!
