Within Wales there is an immensely strong tradition of literature, music, and song and this was fully displayed by young farmers from all areas as they competed at the movement's best-ever national bilingual eisteddfod hosted by Pembrokeshire Federation at a packed Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Fishguard.
The chair, awarded for an outstanding written item, was designed and made by Tecwyn James of Cwmgwaun, donated by Brian Llewellyn of Eglwyswrw, and won by Nia Wyn Evans, representing Anglesey.
Eurgain James of Wales YFC, who co-ordinated the event, said the eisteddfod was one of the best on record. "During the day we saw over 500 members - that's almost 10% of our membership - competing on stage."
Selected results: most points overall - Ceredigion Federation; runners-up- Carmarthen. Homework section - two voice party - Pembrokeshire; music (individual) - Rhian Lois Evans, Ceredigion.
Prizewinners, staged items: duet, under 26 - Emma Edwards and Hanna Edwards, Capel Iwan; humorous duet - Afan Tomas and Eifion Tomas, Capel Iwan; two voice party - Llysyfran and Fishguard; sketch - Penparc; story and sound - Dion Davies and Llyr Jones, Pontsian; folk dancing - Capel Iwan.
