Bumper fortnight of film

The eleventh Mwldan Film Festival is under way - the first to be held in the newly completed Theatr Mwldan.

To celebrate, this year's event is being held in two screens over 14 days with more than 80 screenings and 18 feature films.

The festival boasts highlights including comedy, period, political, music, social, thrillers and specialist films.

On weekdays, all screenings starting before 5pm are a reduced £3.20 per seat. To book tickets and for enquiries, call Theatr Mwldan's box office on 01239 621200.

Highloights include:

The American film Finding Neverland, which is both comedy and tragedy, starring Johnny Depp.

Ladies in Lavender, a very British, amusing drama starring Dames Judy Dench and Maggie Smith.

My House In Umbria, also starring Dame Maggie Smith, about the romantic novelist Emily Delahunty.

Comic and off-the-wall film I Heart Huckabees, with a cast including Dustin Hoffman, Lily Tomlin and Jude Law.

Shaolin Soccer, a brash slap-sticking spoof about monks who merge martial talents with football.

Kevin Spacey gives an awesome performance as the 1960s show business all-rounder Bobby Darin in Beyond The Sea.

The Italian film Good Morning Night, based on the 1978 kidnapping and imprisonment of Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro.

Take My Eyes, an award winning Spanish film, tackles the delicate subject of domestic abuse, including some of the grey areas, and, far from being a depressing experience, is romantic, funny and deeply inspirational.

Heart-rending rites-of-passage picture about the desertion of four young children by their irresponsible mother, Nobody Knows is inspired by an event that took place in 1980s.

Hukkle combines humour, careful observation and innovation, and takes you on an aural and visual tour of a small rural community at the height of the summer.

A Way Of Life, hailed as one of the finest movies to come out of Wales in a long time. It is a raw and moving drama about racism on a south Wales council estate.

Manchurian Candidate, a cracking conspiracy thriller, slyly satirical and solidly updated to reflect the new world order.

Enduring Love, the second of our thrillers, is an adventurous modern love story, firmly located in London but with universal themes.
