For whom do you work, Mr Gibbons?

DEAR EDITOR, - I read this week that Labour's new health minister at the National Assembly has made a commitment to spend one day a week on tackling the enormous waiting list problem that his government has created.

As laudable as the pledge may sound, I was surprised that Dr Brian Gibbons made his announcement not to the National Assembly, nor even to the Welsh media and press.

Instead he made it at a meeting of Labour MPs in London.

Can someone tell me who Brian Gibbons actually works for?

Is it for the people of Wales or his mates in London? If Labour AMs stopped treating Wales and the National Assembly with such contempt they might actually have a better chance of sorting out some of the problems that their policies have created for our public services since they came to power.

If Mr Gibbons or his colleagues have something important to announce, the people of Wales should hear it first.

Paul Sambrook Treclyn, Eglwyswrw.
