Water sports

Pembrokeshire's fantastic coastal waters and Milford Haven Waterway have long been a magnet for those who enjoy watersports.

So it's hardly surprising that Pembrokeshire Watersports should attract thousands of people, of all ages, not just from Pembrokeshire and Wales but from all parts of United Kingdom and Southern Ireland.

The concept for the development of Pembrokeshire Watersports was based upon two facts.

Firstly, Pembrokeshire's natural maritime resources offer a vast area of water suitable for watersports at all levels of ability. In addition to this, the scenery and coastline provided by Britain's only coastal national park is stunning.

Secondly, watersports and adventure tourism is a fast growing economy in the UK.

Established in 1992, Pembrokeshire Watersports has developed into one of the UK's largest activity providers.

Resources now include three centres, a fleet of over 200 craft and a team of 10 core staff increasing to 50 during the season.

Services offered feature a range of watersports and adventurous activities, which are provided to all levels of ability. These not only cater for leisure and recreation, but also vocational training for professional instructors.

Pembrokeshire Watersports has also branched out into the business tourism market, and offers facilities and services for meetings and conferences.

It was recently awarded the Wales Tourist Board accreditation and holds a Platinum award along with only 16 other venues in Wales, including Celtic Manor.

With six quality conference suites, and catering for 120 delegates in the modern "Quarterdeck suite", the centre can cater for groups large or small.

With state-of-the art training facilities and 75 networked computers in the adjacent e-commerce centre, we do not put any limitations on our capabilities to accommodate all," said a spokesman.

"Some of the local businesses in Pembrokeshire have had the opportunity to take part in team-building activities including watersports and adventure activities as part of the whole experience!"

Quality catering services provide refreshments and professional staff cater for individual needs. Centre visits are most welcome at any time!

Pembrokeshire Watersports provides the best equipment and expertise to learn and develop practical skills and knowledge in your chosen watersport - from beginner right through to professional instructor.

The modern, purpose-built Cleddau River Centre offers exciting residential adventure breaks to schools, colleges and other groups. It can host up to 80 people in either four or two bed rooms, with a further 20 beds available on request. Summer activities also take place at the Fishguard Harbour Centre, Goodwick.

Watersports Facilities: With over 200 course dates, available in 2005 there are plenty of opportunities to enroll on to a course ranging from sailing, powerboating and windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, coaching and shore based activities.
