Paedophile predator jailed

A Llandysul postman who committed virtually the entire criminal catalogue of child abuse has been jailed for six years.

Aled Wyn Williams, aged 31, was considered such a risk that a judge added the maximum permitted period of extended licence to his sentence.

Williams must also register with the police as a sex offender for life; is banned from working with children for life; must not loiter within 200 yards of a school or associate with anyone under 16, except under supervision; and must not access the internet unless in the course of his employment.

The extended licence period means after his release Williams will be liable to recall to jail until March 2015.

Williams, of Cwmbran Farm, Drefach, Felindre, appeared at Swansea crown court on Friday and admitted two sets of charges.

The first 16 featured charges of indecent assault, indecency and attempted buggery. He is alleged to have assauted four different boys and in some cases videoed himself carrying out attacks.

The second set of charges related to 5,252 pornographic images of children on his computer. The court heard that some of them depicted real acts of abuse of children as young as a few months old.

Williams' barrister Dyfed Thomas said his client was a homosexual as well as a paedophile, but now understood the difference between the two.

He added that Williams had not requested pictures of babies, but had received them along with other pictures.

Judge Price described Williams as a 'paedophile predator' who posed a clear and high risk of harm to children.
