The Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds, presents Old Herbaceous, an enchanting one-man show at Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan, on Wednesday, April 6th at 7.30pm.
Adapted from Reginald Arkell's book by Alfred Shaughnessy, whose Upstairs, Downstairs TV series entranced the nation, the play is set against the turmoil of two world wars seething beyond the peace of the garden walls.
Now in his 80s, Bert is a retired gardener who reminisces in his ramshackle greenhouse, from his early inspiration at the village flower show, through falling in love among the pansies to twinkling with delight at his memories of 'my lady' at the manor.
The play features a tour de force performance by Christopher Robbie, who delivers a truly beguiling portrait of Bert Pinnegar.
Tickets costing £10 (£8) are still available, from the Theatr Mwldan Box Office on 01239 621200.
