Gammer a step closer to British title bout

A PEMBROKE Dock boxer may be moving a step closer to the big-time as he prepares to fight for a British title bout.

Four-time Welsh Amateur Boxing Association champion, Scott 'The Hammer' Gammer, 28, of 31 Dorset Row, Llanion, Pembroke Dock, will be going head to head with a fellow contender in a heavyweight eliminator on May 15th.

If successful in the eliminators the hard-hitting labourer will land a chance to fight for the British title.

The father-of-two said: "This has always been my dream, I've always been a boxer and I want to take it as far as I can."

Undefeated in his 13 bouts since turning pro three years ago, the former schoolboy champ has been boxing since the age of nine under the tutelage of trainer and father Ralph Gammer.

"There is no doubt Scott has the ability to go all the way, there is no two ways about that," he said.

Scott's first eliminator bout will be against Sheffield's Mark Rench in the northern town although the venue has yet to be confirmed.
