Is that a lifeboat ... on the road?

IT was with some surprise that Western Telegraph reader Tom McGlynn saw St Davids' Tyne class lifeboat on a main road in Suffolk on Wednesday!

The RNLB Garside was being transported back to St Davids from Great Yarmouth, where it had undergone a complete refurbishment and refit - due every five to six years.

The Western Telegraph caught up with the lifeboat when it was returned to the water at Neyland Marina the following day.

And waiting in the wings was the Tyne class Angle lifeboat, RNLB The Lady Rank, which was later lifted on to the low loader for its journey to Great Yarmouth for refurbishment and refit.

The St Davids crew, delighted to have their lifeboat back, subsequently brought it back to its St Justinian's station.

The relief lifeboat which had been at St Davids is now on service at Angle.
