Time for Welsh parliament says Plaid

Only a proper parliament for Wales, with the powers to make our own laws, can deal with the problems facing Wales said Plaid Cymru candidate for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, John Dixon.

"During the phoney war, it has become clear that there are a number of common issues which concern people," he added.

"Affordable housing, the state of the NHS, student fees, privatisation and the protection of public services are mentioned time and time again," said Mr Dixon.

"On all of these issues there is a great deal of frustration that Wales is not getting a fair deal, and that the National Assembly does not have the power to tackle the issues."

He added: "Scotland has a proper parliament, and is able to take action across a whole range of issues to find Scottish solutions to Scottish problems. Wales does not have that advantage.

"Parity with Scotland is the next big step for Wales. People need to be clear that only Plaid Cymru MPs will fight for that."
