Two bid to win county seats for UKIP

UK Independence Party Wales (UKIP) have chosen candidates for both parliamentary covering Pembrokeshire.

Retired farmer Josie MacDonald, who is a leading campaigner in Wales against GM crops, will contest the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire seat.

Preseli Pembrokeshire will be contested by James Carver, who runs his small family umbrella-making business, as well as working as a political assistant to one of the UKIP members of the European Parliament, elected following their breakthrough in last year's European elections.

In a statement, Jim Carver said: "The main parties are never keen to mention the fact that over 70% of our laws now come directly from the European Union. Our Parliament is gradually becoming just a rubber stamp mechanism to our political masters in Brussels.

The other parties remain committed to continued EU membership and, as such, are only able to dish out sound-bytes, to an increasingly sceptical public, when addressing the very real problems caused by our EU membership."
