Integrity of postal vote questioned

DEAR EDITOR - With the announcement of the date of the next General Election, we are already being urged to apply for a postal vote.

This system has already been shown to be flawed, and has been described by a leading judge as 'an open invitation to fraud that would disgrace a banana republic'.

There appears to be no systems to deal realistically with fraud and the scheme for registering postal votes is hopelessly insecure.

A recent court case highlighted a fiddle which involved 1,000 postal votes.

Until the integrity of the postal vote is secured then only those with a genuine reason for not attending the polling station should have the privilege.
